Wa East District Leadership & Development Profile
Adamu Sayibu was confirmed as DCE following a second nomination by President John Dramani Mahama, after an initial rejection in April 2025.
His confirmation marked a pivotal moment for Wa East, signaling renewed collaboration between the Assembly and the Executive. He pledged to lead with transparency, inclusivity, and an open-door policy, emphasizing grassroots engagement and stakeholder partnerships.
Four Key Development Projects Underway
1. Bulenga–Funsi Road Rehabilitation
● Objective: Improve inter-community access and reduce travel time to health and market centers.
● Status: Phase I completed; Phase II underway with support from the Ghana Road Fund.
● Impact: Expected to benefit over 20,000 residents across 12 communities.
2. Wa East District Hospital Project
● Objective: Establish a full-service district hospital to reduce pressure on regional facilities.
● Status: Land secured; architectural designs completed; awaiting funding clearance.
● Impact: Will serve over 90,000 residents, improving emergency response and maternal care.
3. Agricultural Input Support Scheme
● Objective: Boost food security through subsidized seeds, fertilizers, and extension services.
● Status: Rolled out under the “Planting for Food and Jobs” initiative.
● Impact: Over 3,000 farmers supported in 2025, with increased yields in maize and groundnuts.
4. Wa East Girls’ Education Enhancement Program
● Objective: Promote gender equity in education through scholarships, mentorship, and infrastructure.
● Status: 150 girls enrolled in 2025; new dormitory block under construction at Funsi SHS.
● Impact: Aims to reduce dropout rates and empower future women leaders in the district.
