Kumbungu District, situated in Ghana’s Northern Region, continues to evolve as a beacon of rural resilience and development. Established in 2012 through Legislative Instrument 2062, the district spans approximately 1,547 square kilometers and comprises over 115 communities. Its capital, Kumbungu town, serves as the administrative and economic nucleus.
With a population of 110,586 (2021 Census), the district is predominantly agrarian. Farming remains the primary occupation, with crops such as maize, yam, groundnuts, and vegetables forming the economic backbone. Shea nut cultivation, especially in areas like Voggu and Gbulung, presents opportunities for agro-processing and export.

Healthcare Access: Expansion of CHPS compounds in underserved communities and support for Kings Medical Centre in Bontanga to enhance maternal and neonatal care.
Education Infrastructure: Rehabilitation of classroom blocks in Zangbalun, Bongnaayili, and Kpulyini, alongside scholarship support and provision of dual desks.Water and Sanitation: Rehabilitation of boreholes and development of small-town water systems in Dalun and Nawuni to improve potable water access.
Electrification Drive: Connection of over 70 communities to the national grid, including remote areas like Toligu, Singa A & B, and Tignyoring.As Kumbungu District continues its journey toward sustainable development, the vision of Alhaji Yakubu Imoro Kakpagu offers a roadmap grounded in community engagement, strategic investment, and a deep understanding of local needs.
