Pru West Munisipal  District

Located in the Bono East Region, was established in December 2017 under Legislative Instrument 2335 and inaugurated in March 2018. Its capital is Prang, and the district spans approximately 2,195 square kilometers, representing about 5.6% of the region’s landmass. It shares boundaries with Pru East to the north, Sene West to the east, Atebubu-Amantin and Nkoranza South to the south, and Kintampo North and South to the west.

The district’s population stands at 69,383 according to the 2021 census, with agriculture employing over 70% of the labor force. Major crops include maize and rice, and the district also supports livestock and poultry production. Infrastructure development is a key priority, with 175 kilometers of roads, including ongoing upgrades to engineered feeder roads. The district also faces energy challenges, though a substation at Atebubu is expected to improve electricity supply.

Among the district’s notable development projects is the construction of a new assembly office complex, which enhances administrative efficiency. The Agenda 111 hospital project, with an 80-bed capacity, is progressing steadily and aims to improve healthcare access. A One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative is underway to stimulate local industry and job creation. Additionally, town roads and feeder roads are being rehabilitated to improve connectivity, while potable water systems are being expanded to underserved communities. These efforts reflect the district’s commitment to equitable development and improved living standards.
