Municipal Chief Executive, Kwabre East Municipality

Hon. Joseph Amankwah, a proud native of Mamponteng in the Ashanti Region, is a rising force in Ghanaian politics and a distinguished public servant within the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Born on December 2, 1972, he currently serves as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Kwabre East Municipality — a role in which he has earned widespread acclaim for his hands-on leadership and commitment to development.

Hon. Amankwah’s educational path reflects his lifelong dedication to learning and service. He began at Simms Senior High School, where he distinguished himself as Senior Prefect in 1994. He went on to attend Mampong Technical College of Education, where his leadership credentials deepened as he served as SRC President, advocating for student welfare and improved campus life.

Professional Background in Education

Before assuming public office, Hon. Amankwah built a strong foundation in the education sector. He has over a decade of experience as an educator and administrator, helping to shape the futures of countless young Ghanaians. He was Headteacher of Jamasi Tabre D/A Exp Primary School in 2012, later becoming Circuit Supervisor at Agona North Circuit in 2018. Since 2019, he has served in the Education Directorate of Sekyere South District, where his policy insights and supervision have contributed significantly to improved academic outcomes.

His political journey within the NDC has been steady and strategic. He served as Vice Chairman of the NDC in the Kwabre East Constituency (2018) and was previously the Branch Organizer for the Nuruhuda Branch in Mamponteng. His understanding of constituency needs and party organization makes him a vital asset in the party's bid to win Kwabre East.

His civic service includes his tenure as Assemblyman for the Mamponteng Bronum Electoral Area in 2011, where he advocated for road upgrades, access to healthcare, and improved public services. His leadership roots stretch back to 2006 when he served as the Organizer of the Association of Teacher Trainees (Ashba), demonstrating a deep and early commitment to advocacy and collective progress.

A Vision for Kwabre East

Hon. Joseph Amankwah envisions a transformed Kwabre East — one where development reaches every community, where education becomes a tool for social mobility, and where the voices of the people drive local and national policy. With experience in governance, education, and politics, he brings a unique combination of compassion, competence, and courage to his roles.
