Hon. Osei Boateng, Municipal Chief Executive.- Offinso South District

About Offinso South District

Offinso South Municipal, located in the northwestern part of Ghana’s Ashanti Region, was established in 2007 through Legislative Instrument 1909.

It spans approximately 586 square kilometers and shares boundaries with Offinso North, Afigya Kwabre North, Atwima Nwabiagya North, Ahafo Ano South, and Ejura Sekyedumase. Offinso New Town serves as the administrative capital, comprising about 22 suburbs and functioning as a key urban center within the district.

The municipality’s economy is largely agrarian, with cocoa, cassava, plantain, citrus, and oil palm forming the backbone of agricultural activity. The area benefits from fertile soils, a semi-equatorial climate, and two forest reserves—Afram Headwaters and Opro Forest—that support both ecological balance and sustainable forestry. A major trunk road forming part of the Trans-African Highway runs through the municipality, enhancing trade and mobility.

Development in Offinso South has gained momentum under the leadership of Hon. Osei Boateng, the current Municipal Chief Executive. A proud alumnus of Wesley College of Education and a postgraduate student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Hon. Boateng brings a strong educational and grassroots political background to his role. His leadership is marked by community engagement, youth empowerment, and a commitment to inclusive governance.

Among the notable projects is the construction of a modern CHPS compound at Samproso, aimed at improving access to primary healthcare in underserved communities. In the education sector, a three-unit classroom block has been completed at Kokote Zongo to enhance basic school infrastructure. The municipality has also invested in sanitation, with a new public toilet facility constructed at Abofour Market to address open defecation and improve hygiene. Additionally, road rehabilitation works have commenced in Offinso Old Town and surrounding areas, improving connectivity and easing transportation challenges for residents and traders.

Hon. Boateng’s administration continues to prioritize infrastructure renewal, health accessibility, and educational advancement, with a focus on transparent governance and stakeholder collaboration. If you’d like this version expanded into a leadership spotlight or formatted for publication, I’d be glad to help shape it further.
