Offinso Municipality: Uniting Progress and Leadership Under Caesar Ofosu Acheampong

Located at the strategic intersection of the Ashanti, Bono, and Ahafo regions, the Offinso Municipality is emerging as a dynamic center for rural-urban transformation. Spanning 585.7 square kilometers and home to over 137,000 residents, the municipality leverages its proximity to Kumasi and its rich agricultural base to drive economic and social development. Subsistence farming remains the backbone of local livelihoods, with the majority of households engaged in crop cultivation and trade.

The municipality’s commitment to inclusive development is underscored by a series of impactful initiatives that span healthcare, education, infrastructure, and sanitation. Among the most significant is the completion of a 30-bed hospital ward at the Abofour Health Centre, along with a newly built CHPS compound at Brekum. These projects are not only improving access to primary health care but also easing pressure on existing facilities. Medical equipment and beds have been supplied to multiple centers, while nutrition and immunization services continue to expand across rural communities.

In education, Offinso is bolstering academic infrastructure through the completion of a six-bedroom teachers’ quarters with a mechanized borehole at Anhwerekrom, and the distribution of 200 dual desks to public schools. Classroom maintenance and scholarship programs for brilliant but needy students reflect a people-centered approach to learning and youth empowerment.

Water access has also seen major improvements, with mechanized boreholes constructed in Abofour Junction, Amoawi, Dentin, Pinkyemi, and Koforidua. The completion of a Small-Town Water System in Koforidua, funded by One Foundation in the UK, marks a milestone in sustainable water delivery. Additional boreholes at Kokote and the New Town Market contribute to enhanced sanitation and public health.

Infrastructure upgrades are underway, with over 18 kilometers of feeder roads awarded for construction and an additional 15 kilometers under the Department of Urban Roads. These include routes in Offinso Old Town, Ayensua, Ahodwo, Amoawi, and Namong—transforming transport accessibility and linking rural zones to commercial centers.

Guiding this resurgence is Hon. Caesar Ofosu Acheampong, the current Municipal Chief Executive. A former parliamentary candidate for Offinso North in 2024, Hon. Acheampong assumed office in early 2025 with a firm commitment to unity, transparency, and grassroots engagement. His leadership has been marked by inclusive governance, exemplified by the distribution of over 1,600 mathematical sets to BECE candidates and community outreach tours across schools and institutions.

Hon. Acheampong’s vision for Offinso is grounded in pragmatic development and civic collaboration—one that transcends political divides and focuses on actionable results. Under his stewardship, Offinso is not just investing in infrastructure, but cultivating the spirit of a municipality prepared to meet future challenges with resilience, innovation, and unity.
