Education has been a top priority. With limited resources, the Assembly has re-roofed key schools such as Fotobi M/A Basic and James White SDA Basic, and constructed a 6-unit classroom block at Pampamso Krokese Primary. Looking ahead, Adoagyiri’s Community Education Fund promises a library, ICT centre, and vocational training institute to nurture future talent.

Agricultural development continues to support livelihoods, with cocoa, oil palm, citrus, and livestock farming employing nearly 37% of the working population. To complement this, SME exhibitions during regional town hall meetings have showcased local products and encouraged entrepreneurial growth.

Water and sanitation remain pressing challenges. Though communities like Odeikrom and Aduakrom have benefitted from expanded access to clean water, aging infrastructure means that pipe-borne water reaches only 30–40% of residents. Open defecation and crude dumping persist, yet community-led initiatives—such as borehole drilling and dredging of River Densu—reflect a strong local commitment to environmental management.

Guiding these efforts is the newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Fummey Selorm Philibert. A known political contender, Selorm stood as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate in both the 2020 and 2024 elections, facing off against NPP incumbent MP Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh in one of Ghana’s fiercest constituency rivalries. After a court ruling upheld Annoh-Dompreh’s 2024 win, Selorm’s nomination as MCE was met with skepticism, rooted in deep partisan mistrust.

Despite this backdrop, Selorm clinched confirmation with 29 out of 38 valid assembly votes, signaling a shift in the political narrative. His rise to municipal leadership has sparked fresh optimism. He has committed to inclusive governance, bridging political divides, and restoring public confidence. Early signs of his tenure include intensified sanitation enforcement and outreach to industrial stakeholders—embodying a leadership style that is hands-on and forward-looking.

From its strategic location and bustling trade to grassroots development and renewed leadership, Nsawam Adoagyiri is charting a path toward transformation. Challenges remain, but with collaborative vision and community resilience, the municipality stands poised to become a model of urban and rural synergy.

Nsawam Adoagyiri: A Strategic Urban Gateway Rising Under New Leadership

Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality, nestled in Ghana’s Eastern Region, has evolved into a strategic urban hub connecting Accra to Kumasi via the country's busiest highway. Once part of the larger Akuapem South District formed in 1988, it became autonomous in 2012—a milestone that marked the beginning of a renewed development narrative. Geographically, it borders Ga West and Ga East Municipalities to the south and touches Akuapem South and Ayensuano to the north and northwest. This location offers both rural charm and urban accessibility, covering approximately 175–440 square kilometers.

With a population of over 155,000, the municipality boasts a vibrant, multicultural identity. It is predominantly inhabited by Akuapems, with Ewes, Ga-Adangbes, and other Akan groups contributing to its rich social fabric. Christianity remains the dominant religion, and Nsawam town is especially renowned for its bread-making industry, an economic hallmark that fuels both employment and trade.

The development journey of Nsawam Adoagyiri is multi-faceted. Urban expansion has ushered in projects focused on internal road layout improvements in Nsawam and Adoagyiri—though many roads still await full rehabilitation. The Nsawam Central Market is undergoing a significant expansion to accommodate over 11,000 traders per market day, injecting vitality into the local economy. In parallel, health and sanitation initiatives are advancing through monthly clean-up exercises, CHPS compound construction (notably in Otukwadjo), and strategic waste disposal site management in places like Adipa and
