About Ketu South Municipal District
Ketu South Municipality: Coastal Resilience and Economic Renewal Under Strategic Leadership
Ketu South Municipality, with Denu as its capital, lies at Ghana’s southeastern frontier, sharing a direct boundary with Lomé, the capital of Togo. Covering 261 square kilometers, it is one of the most populous municipalities in the Volta Region, with over 253,000 residents. Its strategic location makes it a vital hub for cross-border trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.
Four transformative projects underway include:
1. Blekusu Coastal Protection Project Phase II – A comprehensive initiative to safeguard communities like Agavedzi, Salakope, and Amutinu from tidal waves, featuring 37 groynes, land reclamation, and shoreline stabilization.
2. Integrated Fish Market and Processing Facilities – Construction of cold storage, drying platforms, and sanitation infrastructure to support fisherfolk and stimulate local economies.
3. Aflao Modern Market (Asigame) – A planned commercial hub supported by the Chinese government to enhance trade and logistics at Ghana’s busiest land border.
4. Aquaculture and Ecotourism Development – Promotion of fish farming and eco-tourism circuits around the Keta Lagoon and cultural heritage sites.
Hon. Worlachie’s administration is also prioritizing education, sanitation, and digital innovation, aiming to transform Ketu South into a resilient, economically vibrant municipality.
