About Ketu North Municipal District
Ketu North Municipality: Revitalizing Agriculture and Infrastructure Under Inclusive Leadership
The Ketu North Municipality, located in the southeastern part of the Volta Region, was carved out of the former Ketu District and elevated to municipal status in 2018. With Dzodze as its capital, the municipality spans approximately 462 square kilometers and shares borders with Akatsi North, Ketu South, and the Republic of Togo. It is home to over 114,000 residents and is predominantly agrarian, with nearly 80% of the population engaged in farming.
A native of Penyi, Hon. Amenaki holds a Master of Arts in Administration in Higher Education, a Bachelor of Education in English and Social Studies, and a Diploma in Basic Education, all from the University of Cape Coast. His academic achievements underpin his deep commitment to advancing educational opportunities and empowering youth within the municipality.
Ketu North is undergoing a strategic reset focused on agriculture, infrastructure, and social development. Rev. Amenaki has pledged to implement the NDC manifesto and the “Adzorgbe” development pledge of the Member of Parliament, Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, with a leadership style rooted in unity, transparency, and grassroots engagement.
Four key development projects currently shaping the municipality include:
1. Tree for Life Reforestation Initiative – A climate resilience program promoting sustainable forestry and environmental education across communities.
2. Smart SDG Cities Programme – A digital transformation initiative aimed at improving urban planning, transport systems, and service delivery.
3. Agricultural Support and Farmers’ Day Celebrations – Distribution of inputs and recognition of outstanding farmers to boost productivity and food security.
4. Health Outreach and Eye Surgery Campaigns – Targeted interventions addressing cataracts, glaucoma, and other prevalent conditions, especially in dusty, underserved areas.
Rev. Amenaki’s administration is also tackling unauthorized construction, sanitation, and youth empowerment, positioning Ketu North as a model of inclusive and sustainable development.
