The current District Chief Executive, Hon. Alexander Adu Quist, was unanimously confirmed on April 11, 2025. His administration is focused on improving sanitation through initiatives like Operation Clean Your Frontage, which combines cleanup campaigns, enforcement of sanitation bylaws, and education on public hygiene. He has also spearheaded consultations with traditional authorities to implement structured township layouts that prevent unplanned development and facilitate infrastructure expansion.

Juaboso District is located in Ghana’s Western North Region and spans approximately 1,291 square kilometers.

It shares boundaries with Côte d’Ivoire to the west and several districts including Bia East, Bia West, and Asunafo North to the north, Asunafo South and Bodi to the east, and Suaman to the south. With a population of 88,814 as of the 2021 census, the district is predominantly agrarian, with cocoa farming serving as its economic backbone. 
The four area councils—Kofikrom-Proso, Asempaneye, Benchema-Nkatieso, and Boinzan—serve as administrative units that support decentralized governance and local development.

 


Revenue mobilization has become a central focus of leadership, with efforts directed toward enhancing internally generated funds through improved tax compliance and public engagement. ansparency-driven governance includes regular town hall meetings to foster trust, accountability, and civic participation. In support of urban planning and orderly growth, his team has initiated dialogues on zoning and road alignment, particularly in fast-growing communities.


Recent national-level interventions have further shaped Juaboso’s development trajectory. President Mahama’s announcement of a low-cost housing scheme at a durbar in Juaboso aims to provide affordable rent-to-own housing for public servants, with repayment structured through monthly salary deductions. Juaboso also stands as a beneficiary of cocoa sector reforms, including rehabilitation support for aging farms and disease-stricken plantations, alongside promises of paying farmers up to 70 percent of the world market price.


Meanwhile, illegal mining—commonly referred to as galamsey—has been declared a national emergency, and Juaboso has been identified as a key area for intensified enforcement. Task forces are active in the district, with heightened measures against impersonators and environmental abuse.


The district’s leadership is committed to promoting youth empowerment, inclusive development, and regional integration, with plans for the upcoming launch of the Youth Enterprise and Employment Scheme. Furthermore, each assembly member has received GH¢25 million in allowances for the first quarter of 2025 to boost grassroots participation and oversight.
