Ho Municipal Assembly: Advancing Agribusiness, Infrastructure, and Inclusive Governance under Hon. Stephen Adom
Ho Municipal Assembly continues to assert its role as a strategic development hub in the Volta Region, guided by the pragmatic leadership of Hon. Stephen Adom. Since his unanimous confirmation in April 2025, Hon. Adom has championed a governance style rooted in transparency, agribusiness innovation, and community engagement.
One of the Assembly’s flagship initiatives is the construction of a new administrative complex. This facility is designed to consolidate decentralized departments, improve service delivery, and reflect the Assembly’s growing administrative capacity. Alongside this, the Assembly is developing a new official residence for the Municipal Chief Executive and ten two-bedroom staff bungalows under the government’s affordable housing program—an effort to enhance public sector accommodation and attract skilled personnel.
In the commercial heart of Ho, the Assembly has completed over 130 new shops within the Central Market, equipped with ancillary facilities to support traders and stimulate local commerce. This market upgrade not only improves the trading environment but also contributes to job creation and revenue mobilization.
To address water access challenges, the Assembly has drilled 20 boreholes across underserved communities. These boreholes form part of a broader public health strategy aimed at reducing waterborne diseases and improving sanitation in peri-urban and rural areas.
Hon. Stephen Adom’s leadership is defined by a hands-on approach and a bold agribusiness agenda. He has launched youth-led farming programs to boost food production and reduce local food prices, while actively pursuing the establishment of a fertilizer factory on a ten-acre site to support agricultural productivity. His administration has pledged to make the Assembly’s budget publicly accessible before implementation, reinforcing his commitment to accountability and citizen oversight.
Urban challenges such as vehicular congestion and market overcrowding are also being addressed through stakeholder collaboration and infrastructure planning. Hon. Adom has advocated for the use of the Ewe language in Assembly proceedings to promote cultural inclusion and accessibility.
With a clear focus on agriculture, infrastructure, and inclusive governance, Ho Municipal Assembly under Hon. Adom is charting a path toward sustainable development—where local resources are harnessed for collective progress and every resident has a voice in shaping the future.
