Fanteakwa North Rising: Civic Leadership and Infrastructure Drive Local Progress

Fanteakwa North District, in the Eastern Region, is emerging as a dynamic hub of development and public service delivery.

With Begoro as its administrative capital, the district’s recent progress showcases a powerful blend of infrastructure improvement, education enhancement, economic stimulation, and governance renewal.

Over the past year, a series of strategic projects have reshaped the district’s landscape.

One of the most transformative is the expansion of Akumersu East D/A Primary School. The addition of a six-unit classroom block, complemented by a modern six-seater toilet facility and a dedicated water storage system, has elevated the learning environment for pupils and staff alike. The project reflects a district-wide commitment to educational access and child-friendly infrastructure.

Equally noteworthy is the construction of a two-storey Community Centre in Begoro. Beyond its architectural stature, the facility is a symbol of civic pride—offering a centralized venue for administrative services, community events, and stakeholder engagements. It stands as a beacon for inclusive governance and participatory development.

Economic revitalization has also found expression in the redevelopment of the Dedeso Lakeside Market. With new open market sheds, modern sanitation amenities, and bathing facilities, the project has breathed life into local commerce. Traders now operate in a cleaner, safer environment that supports small business growth and boosts internally generated funds.

In collaboration with World Vision Ghana, the District Assembly has spearheaded a far-reaching water and sanitation campaign. More than sixty water systems and latrines have been constructed across communities like Abourso, leading to measurable improvements in public health, school attendance, and gender equity in sanitation access.
