Annor Leads Bia West into a New Era of Inclusive Development

Bia West District,  in the heart of the Western North Region, continues to evolve as a strategic agricultural and commercial hub. With Essam as its administrative capital, the district is known for its fertile lands, dynamic cocoa economy, and growing interest in agro-processing. Its proximity to the Ivorian border enhances its role in cross-border trade, while internal development efforts have focused on expanding infrastructure, improving social services, and deepening community engagement.

Recent years have witnessed a surge in transformative projects that are reshaping the district’s development landscape. Foremost among these is the Agenda 111 hospital project, which is nearing completion and set to deliver comprehensive healthcare to thousands of residents. This facility will drastically reduce the burden on distant regional hospitals and improve emergency response capacity within the district. Equally impactful is the Debiso–Essam road upgrade, which has enhanced connectivity between farming communities and market centers, boosting trade and reducing post-harvest losses.

In Adjoafua, the newly commissioned vocational training center stands out as a beacon of youth empowerment. Offering training in carpentry, tailoring, and ICT, the center is equipping young people with practical skills to thrive in a competitive economy. Meanwhile, the expansion of the Essam water supply system has brought clean, potable water to over 15 communities, addressing long-standing health and sanitation challenges and improving overall quality of life.
