Key Projects’

The Assembly has prioritized the delivery of education, healthcare, agriculture, and human capital development. The results have been transformative.

Education is a cornerstone of this agenda. The district, with support from the Ministry of Education, has distributed 1,800 school desks to alleviate critical deficits. Classroom blocks are being constructed in communities like Oboba Kokrowa and Aniakragya, offering safe, conducive learning environments and boosting retention among students.

Healthcare is also seeing steady improvement. The Atwereboanda CHPS compound has received new medical equipment, with plans underway to deploy qualified staff and expand facilities to meet growing community needs. Preventive care and maternal health are central to these interventions.

Agriculture, the district’s economic backbone, has been revitalized through targeted support. Farmers have benefited from the distribution of oil palm and coconut seedlings, seed rice, plantain suckers, piglets, fertilizers, and insecticides. These efforts aim to modernize farming practices, increase yields, and enhance food security. Young people are being encouraged to see agriculture as a viable livelihood, creating new opportunities and shifting perceptions of rural prosperity.

On the infrastructure front, market sheds have been constructed at Assin Akonfudi to stimulate commerce, while sanitation has improved with the installation of WC toilet facilities at Odumasi. New junior high school blocks are now serving students across several communities. Plans to rehabilitate roads are on the horizon, promising better mobility and economic interconnectivity within the district.

Recognizing the importance of equipping people with practical skills, it has launched skills acquisition programs targeting youth and women. Training in areas like tailoring, hairdressing, agribusiness, and digital literacy is helping to reduce unemployment and build resilient livelihoods.

Assin North is no longer standing still—it is on the move. With Mr. Amakye-Nyarko at the helm, the district is proving that dynamic, people-focused leadership can change the trajectory of even the most underserved areas. The goal now is to sustain this momentum, attract investment, and deepen citizen participation to ensure lasting, inclusive growth.
