Prince Manu Moris - District Chief Executive (DCE)
About Amansie West District
In June 2025, Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd. launched a comprehensive five-year socio-economic development plan aimed at uplifting communities within Amansie West and Amansie South Districts.
The initiative marked a significant shift in corporate social responsibility, moving away from fragmented charitable acts toward structured and sustainable development interventions. At the heart of the plan were improvements in infrastructure, education, and livelihoods. Several community projects were rolled out, including the construction of classroom blocks, teachers’ quarters, and mechanized boreholes to address longstanding deficits.
Education received an added boost with scholarship programs targeted at brilliant but needy students, ensuring access to learning for marginalized youth across the district. Young people also benefited from apprenticeship schemes, while women’s groups were empowered through soap-making cooperatives that utilized locally grown citronella—a resource from a parallel afforestation program.
On May 17, 2025, the district saw a pivotal leadership transition as Prince Manu Moris was confirmed as the new District Chief Executive (DCE) of Amansie West with unanimous support. All 39 assembly members voted in favor during a confirmation exercise held at Manso Nkwanta under the supervision of the Electoral Commission. Despite prior protests from youth groups challenging the President's nomination, the event was conducted peacefully and securely, thanks to coordinated efforts from the Ghana Police Service, Fire Service, and Immigration Service.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Moris expressed deep appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for his nomination and thanked assembly members for their overwhelming endorsement. He pledged to direct his leadership towards tangible development gains with a strong focus on infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment. His confirmation has reinvigorated optimism in the district, with stakeholders anticipating that his tenure will bring enhanced coordination between local governance and existing development initiatives.
As implementation of the Asanko Gold plan progresses, the district expects wider collaboration among government agencies, civil society, and private sector partners to ensure sustainability. With Mr. Moris at the helm, Amansie West stands poised to accelerate its development trajectory and deliver impactful change to its communities.
