Hon. Akwasi Adusei, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) - Ahafo Ano North Municipal District
Profile of MCE
At the helm of this transformation is Hon. Akwasi Adusei, the current Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and former Member of Parliament for Tepa. His deep-rooted familiarity with the constituency and his experience in parliamentary service have positioned him as an influential figure in accelerating the municipality’s development agenda. Since his appointment under President John Mahama’s administration in 2025, Hon. Adusei has emphasized unity, efficiency, and strategic investment, earning support from traditional leaders and local stakeholders alike.
One of the most notable achievements under his tenure is the construction of the Tepa Municipal Hospital—a state-of-the-art 100-bed facility that includes departments for emergency care, maternity, radiology, and surgery. It serves not only the municipality but neighboring districts as well. Staff housing, a water purification plant, an ambulance station, and a medical waste treatment system enhance its long-term functionality and reflect a commitment to healthcare equity.
Equally transformative are the municipality’s water supply initiatives. In communities such as Asuhyea, Ayinasuso, Akwasiase, and Mabang, residents now benefit from newly installed mechanized boreholes and small-town pipe networks, designed to reduce waterborne diseases and ensure constant access to clean drinking water.
In education, the municipality is investing in infrastructure that promotes access and equity. A six-unit classroom block at Maabang—funded by the GNPC Foundation—stands alongside new facilities at Dwaho and Odumase, addressing overcrowding and creating safe, welcoming learning environments for young pupils.
Road rehabilitation and urban safety have also seen meaningful upgrades, with extensive reshaping of feeder roads and the installation of over 800 streetlight fittings across key towns and communities. These interventions have improved mobility, boosted nighttime security, and laid the groundwork for enhanced commercial activity.
Through the convergence of strategic leadership and community-focused development, Ahafo Ano North Municipality is carving a path toward resilient, inclusive growth. Hon. Akwasi Adusei’s stewardship embodies the district’s determination to prioritize progress over partisanship and ensure tangible improvements in the lives of its citizens.
About Ahafo Ano North Municipality:
Ahafo Ano North Municipality: Strengthening Development Through Leadership and Infrastructure
Nestled in the verdant northwestern corridor of Ghana’s Ashanti Region lies the Ahafo Ano North Municipality—a district steadily evolving through strategic investment and leadership. Anchored by Tepa, its vibrant capital town, the municipality covers an area of approximately 593.7 square kilometers and hosts a population exceeding 92,000, according to the 2021 census.
The local economy is heavily reliant on agriculture, with residents cultivating cocoa, oil palm, citrus, cassava, maize, and plantain. This is made possible by the area’s wet semi-equatorial climate and the nourishing flow of river systems like the Tano, which offer both irrigation potential and environmental richness.
Established as a municipality in 2017 by Legislative Instrument 2264, Ahafo Ano North has embraced decentralized governance, supported by 39 electoral areas, seven zonal councils, and 58 Assembly members. Its steady progress across health, education, sanitation, and infrastructure is helping to transform it into a model district of inclusive rural advancement.
