Appointed in April 2025, Hon. Eric Gyamfi Odoom brings a unique blend of educational insight and administrative vision to his role as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE). Formerly the head teacher of Swedru A.M.E. Zion (E) Basic School, his transition from classroom to council underscores a leadership style rooted in youth empowerment, inclusive development, and community engagement.

His confirmation received unanimous support from assembly members and traditional leaders, reflecting broad confidence in his ability to deliver on the president’s manifesto — particularly in areas like Adwuma Wura, One Million Coders, and Poultry in Agriculture.

Key Development Projects


Under Hon. Odoom’s leadership, the municipality has launched and accelerated several impactful projects:


1.    Mandela Market Lockable Stores (UDG3 Project)
Construction of 180 lockable stores at the Mandela Market is underway to boost local commerce and create sustainable trading spaces.
2.    Greenland Road Asphalting
The asphalting of Greenland Road is improving transportation flow and accessibility across key urban zones.
3.    Swesbu 2-Storey Classroom Block
A new 2-storey classroom block at Swesbu is enhancing educational infrastructure and reducing overcrowding in schools.
4.    Nsuansa Kindergarten Block
 

The construction of a 2-unit kindergarten block at Nsuansa supports early childhood education and community growth.

Hon. Odoom has pledged to address pressing issues such as child delinquency, illicit drug use, and school infrastructure deficits. His background in education gives him firsthand understanding of these challenges, and he’s already distributed 200 tables and chairs to schools to improve learning conditions.


Traditional councils, including the Swedruman Council of Chiefs and the Nyakrom Development Association, have expressed unwavering support for his leadership, citing his responsiveness and commitment to equitable development across the municipality.
