Driving Inclusive Growth: Development Milestones and Leadership Impact in Afigya Kwabre North District"

Afigya Kwabre North District, located in the heart of the Ashanti Region, was officially established on March 15, 2018, through Legislative Instrument 2333. Boamang serves as the administrative capital. The district spans approximately 228 square kilometers, representing about 0.94% of the region’s land area. Geographically, it shares boundaries with Ejura Sekyedumasi Municipal to the north, Afigya Kwabre South District to the south, Sekyere South to the east, and Atwima Nwabiagya North and Offinso Municipal to the west. As of the 2021 census, the district’s population stands at 73,330, balanced almost equally between males and females. Afigya Kwabre North exhibits a mix of rural and semi-urban settlements, with agriculture serving as a major economic backbone for its residents.

Development in the district is being actively shaped by strategic projects across sectors. In education, several new classroom blocks have been constructed in communities like Ahenkro and Tetrem to support growing enrollment and enhance teaching conditions. Teachers’ quarters at Abidjankrom and Osei Tutu SHS have further bolstered staff accommodation. Road infrastructure is also a priority, with upgrades to feeder roads such as Amoako–Tetrem, Denase–Penteng/Pataase, and Nkwantakese–Pampatia, improving access for farming communities and supporting economic activity. Water and sanitation initiatives are underway to improve hygiene standards and health outcomes in underserved areas, including borehole systems and public sanitation facilities. Additionally, agricultural modernization efforts are providing training and support to local farmers, particularly in cocoa, maize, and vegetable cultivation.
