Hon. Jerry Yao Ameko, District Chief Executive - Adaklu Municipal District
About Adaklu Municipal District
Adaklu District, situated in Ghana’s Volta Region with Adaklu-Waya as its capital, is embracing a new phase of development under the leadership of Hon. Jerry Yao Ameko. Confirmed as District Chief Executive in April 2025 with unanimous support from all 19 assembly members, Hon. Ameko steps into the role with a strong background in education and a Master’s degree in Leadership and Development. His deep connection to the grassroots informs a leadership style focused on community needs and collaborative progress.
His development agenda centers on transforming Adaklu into a hub for agribusiness and inclusive economic growth. Plans are underway to promote year-round farming, supported by the creation of agro-processing industries that will add value to local produce and generate employment.
Infrastructure improvement is also high on his list, with efforts directed toward expanding road networks, enhancing sanitation, and securing safe water for underserved areas. On the education front, Hon. Ameko envisions vocational centers to equip youth with practical skills and is committed to supporting students from low-income families through scholarships and teacher incentives.
In response to recurring conflicts between crop farmers and cattle herders, Hon. Ameko is advocating for peaceful mediation and designated grazing lands. His broader vision positions Adaklu as a leading force within Ghana’s emerging 24-hour economy framework. By welcoming public-private partnerships, encouraging youth entrepreneurship, and strengthening district-wide collaboration, his administration aims to create a resilient local economy rooted in innovation, agricultural excellence, and social cohesion.
